Wodonga Commercial Development

<p class="rteBlock">Scott Thynne is a driven owner-builder and business owner based in Wodonga, Victoria. Best known as the face behind SJT Plumbing, a plumbing and excavation company servicing North East Victoria and Southern NSW, Scott embarked on this project as part of a personal investment initiative, separate from his core trade business. </p><br><p class="rteBlock">With a growing interest in commercial property development, this project marked one of his first ventures into larger-scale construction as he looked to diversify his portfolio and generate long-term rental income.</p>

<p class="rteBlock">Scott engaged Steelcorp to partner with him on the construction of a new multi-tenant commercial development in Wodonga. The goal was to deliver functional, visually appealing spaces suitable for a variety of tenants. As an owner-builder, Scott was seeking a construction partner who could take the project through to lock-up stage, handling everything from steel fabrication to cladding, while also offering design guidance and clear communication throughout.</p><br><p class="rteBlock">While Scott brought strong on-the-ground knowledge from his trade background, he was looking for support navigating the complexities of commercial development, especially in making early design decisions that would impact functionality and street appeal.</p>

<p class="rteBlock">Steelcorp delivered a comprehensive build package through to lock-up stage, including:</p><ul class="rteBlock defaultList"><li>In-house shop detailing and 3D modelling</li><li>Procurement of structural steel and rainwater goods</li><li>Fabrication and application of protective steel coatings</li><li>Onsite project management and installation coordination</li><li>Installation of all structural steel, external cladding, doors, gutters, and flashings.</li></ul><br><p class="rteBlock">Beyond structural delivery, Steelcorp worked closely with Scott during the design phase to provide detailed conceptual drawings and colour recommendations. This early design collaboration ensured that the final build aligned with the local landscape while maintaining a distinct visual identity.</p>

<p class="rteBlock">This project has become a cornerstone in Scott’s investment journey. With Steelcorp’s support, he successfully delivered a multi-tenant commercial property that not only enhances his portfolio but also opens new avenues for passive income and long-term growth. The completed structure provides flexible spaces for a variety of tenants and was delivered with a high standard of workmanship.</p><br><p class="rteBlock">The experience has also given Scott the confidence and insight to pursue future developments with greater clarity and capability.
