The Client

MON Foods is an Australian-owned business based in Barooga, NSW. Known for their commitment to quality and authenticity, MON Foods produces a premium range of condiments and pantry staples that celebrate rich Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours. From oils and vinegars to gourmet sauces, their carefully crafted products have carved out a loyal customer base across Australia.

With their sights set on growth and operational efficiency, MON Foods approached Steelcorp with their first major expansion, a pivotal move in their evolving business journey.

The Brief

As demand for their products increased, MON Foods quickly outgrew their existing facility. Storage limitations were impacting day-to-day operations, forcing the business to rely on off-site warehousing, a costly and inefficient workaround. Internal departments were scattered across spaces not designed for purpose, which created operational friction and hindered collaboration.

The brief was clear: design and deliver a purpose-built facility that would centralise MON Foods’ operations, streamline workflows, and set the business up for long-term growth.

The Scope

Steelcorp was engaged as a delivery partner from concept through to completion. Our scope included:

Engineering and Design Support: Translating MON Foods’ vision into a workable, scalable design.

3D Modelling and Shop Detailing: Accurate drawings and digital models to guide the build and ensure alignment with client expectations.

Structural Steel Package: Supply, manufacture, and delivery of all required steel for the new structures, including warehouse extensions, workshop, and office spaces.

Cladding and Rainwater Goods: Complete cladding installation including insulation, ventilation, gutters, downpipes, and flashings.

Concrete Footings: Installation of foundations, adjusted to suit the specific site conditions.

This facility was built with growth in mind — every element of the design was developed with long-term scalability, compliance, and operational efficiency at its core.

The Challenges

A project of this scale always brings complexities, but this one required particular attention to detail on site.

Sandy Soil Conditions: Initial plans for bored pier footings under the office had to be revised due to unexpected soil conditions. Steelcorp swiftly adapted the design to pad footings, maintaining structural integrity and staying on schedule.

Connecting New to Existing: The new facility needed to seamlessly join the existing warehouse. This required precise on-site measurements and careful planning to ensure alignment in height and structure.

The success of this project was due in part to close collaboration between Steelcorp’s project team, the client, and trusted installer Brad Crowther Constructions, whose quality workmanship and reliability played a vital role.

The Result

The completed build is a transformational step for MON Foods. Now operating from a consolidated, purpose-designed facility, they have eliminated their reliance on off-site storage, reduced logistical complexity, and brought key operations under one roof. With improved traffic flow, integrated office and workshop space, and scalable storage, the business is well-positioned for continued growth.

Perhaps most importantly, this project represents more than just a new building, it’s a foundation for the future. MON Foods now has the infrastructure to support its ambitions, and the confidence to keep expanding, knowing their facility can grow with them.
