The Client

Rich Glen Estate is a specialist olive oil producer with 36,000 olive trees, producing over 200,000 litres of extra virgin olive oil each year.

With decades of history in the Yarrawonga area, the business has grown to produce over 150 olive-oil-based food and skin-care products on the estate as well as showcasing outstanding local produce and supporting local Australian Made businesses in its boutique provedore store in Yarrawonga.

The Brief

The team at Rich Glen approached Steelcorp as they were looking to expand their storage capacity. Having outgrown their previous building and with a thriving business that is rapidly growing, they needed a large warehouse to future-proof their operation for the next 5 – 10 years.

“Steelcorp came recommended to us by our friends at Recopak,” notes Jack Vodusek from Rich Glen.

“They were really competitive with their pricing, and I was impressed by the use of technology in showcasing what they could bring to the table for us.”

Rich Glen’s new structure needed to facilitate a loading bay for trucks, along with being vermin-proof and insulated with a heavy-duty Kingspan Aircell product to assist with temperature regulation.

The Scope

The Steelcorp team provided the Rich Glen team with a new 1,764m2 structure designed to provide the additional space they desperately needed.

Starting with 3D structural steel drawings, engineering certificates and computations, our scope included a fabricated hot dipped galvanised steel package with purlins and girts, external steel cladding, internal partition walls, personal access doors, guttering and the above-ground rainwater system.

We also supplied roof insulation and wire, and an elegant cantilevered awning to provide additional outdoor space in harsh weather conditions. Steelcorp’s installation team also took care of the supply and installation including concrete footings, delivering a comprehensive package of works for Rich Glen.

The Challenges

Jack notes that there were some initial planning issues with the location of the structure, but this was promptly resolved.

“Execution was 9.5 out of 10. We got exactly what we had initially drafted up, there were a few finer details that were missed, but that is to be expected with a structure of this size. Once all permits were acquired, the timeline was very accurate from footings to handover,” adds Jack.

Despite these challenges with approvals, Steelcorp worked together with the Rich Glen team to find a satisfactory solution and ensure the build was completed on schedule.

“The installation team were incredible and worked through the tough weather experienced throughout the build,” adds Jack.

The Result

The Rich Glen team are now the proud owners of an attractive, practical and spacious 49m x 30m steel structure, giving them the ability to significantly increase their storage capacity, not to mention the practicality and efficiencies it will create as they will no longer need to rent out buildings in town for storage.

“After just one week in our new building, we’ve freed up our manufacturing space, allowing us to rearrange our footprint to accommodate a new food production line next year,” adds Jack.

“I’ve only built one shed, but the process was far less stressful than I imagined for a project of this size – I wouldn’t recommend anyone else but Steelcorp for anyone considering a similar sized shed.”

Jack reports that the entire process from drafting plans and choosing colours, to the construction and handover of the structure was completely seamless.

“There was regular contact with multiple members of the Steelcorp team, along with updates on material ordering, galvanising and delivery. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough! I love what the team at Steelcorp are doing within their industry. Innovative technology and forward thinking will continue to please future clients.”
