Case Study S. 17

Ardley Park Project Case Study

The Client

Ardley Park, a boutique equine facility located in Whittlesea, Victoria, is dedicated to providing a safe, functional, and nurturing environment for horses, their owners, clinic participants, visitors, and spectators. Their services include DIY agistment, arena hire, full venue clinic hire, and accommodation options such as farm stays with horses.

The Brief

While Ardley Park offered a range of equine services, they lacked an undercover riding area. This limitation affected their ability to provide year-round training and events, as activities were subject to weather conditions. To enhance their facilities and increase hiring rates, Ardley Park sought to construct a covered riding arena.

The Scope

Steelcorp's involvement in the project encompassed several key responsibilities:

Coordinating council approval

Providing structural engineering services

Drafting and modeling the design

Supplying and installing the structural and cladding packages

The project, valued between $190,000 and $220,000, involved constructing a 60m x 21m x 6m covered sand arena. Steelcorp collaborated with Eren Engineering on the building design to ensure the final structure met Ardley Park's specific needs.

The Result

Completed in January 2024, the new covered arena has significantly enhanced Ardley Park's offerings. The 60m x 20m sand arena provides shade during summer and protection from rain throughout the year, allowing for uninterrupted training sessions and events.

We recieved some very positive feedback from the client on this project:

"Working with Steelcorp, especially our project manager, was a great experience. Communication was clear and timely, which made the entire process smooth. We’re extremely pleased with the final result – the horse arena looks incredibly sturdy and solid, and we've received numerous compliments on the quality of the finish. While there were a few hiccups with the concreters, the rest of the trades did an outstanding job. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with the outcome and would highly recommend Steelcorp to anyone looking for top-notch construction."

The addition of the covered arena has not only improved the functionality of Ardley Park's facilities but has also contributed to increased hiring rates, solidifying its reputation as a premier equine venue in the region.
